Life science

A research dense area

The three universities, Karolinska Instituet, KTH, and Stockholm University, together with the Karolinska University Hospital contribute to a strong academic knowledge within the life science sector in Stockholm. Additionally, approximately 300 life science companies are located in the Stockholm area and many of them in proximity to the three universities. With the universities and the companies the entire value chain within life science is represented - from basic research to production.

An increasing need for interdisciplinary research

The prerequisites for research are changing, and collaboration and networking between researchers with different skills and backgrounds grow in importance. Stockholm Science City Foundations goal is to facilitate interdisciplinary research projects emanating from the three universities, and to establish research programs that will compete with the best in the world and thereby strengthen the competitiveness of the universities and of Stockholm as an internationally leading region for biotechnology.

North Station - a new city section in Stockholm
